40èmes Rugissants A blend of grenache, mourvedre and carignan, this is the only cuvee from Estezargues that employs the technique of carbonic maceration - a process which mellows the tannins and profoundly affects the style of the wine. The approach keeps the feel soft but this one is balanced with an earthy, blueberry fruit and a subtle spiciness.
Les Vignerons d'Estezargues is a small co-op to the south of Chateauneuf-du-Pape which operates under a strict policy of no external yeasts, no filtration, no fining, no enzymes and no sulphur dioxide (except a small amount used for bottling).
The group does not adhere to organic guidelines but belongs to other (and some might say more viable) organizations for safe and sustainable farming such as Terra Vitis and Les Toqués des Dentelles.
To learn more, a fantastic description of the group - by a third party - can be found at http://www.wineterroirs.com/2007/03/estezargues.html Tell A Friend
