Scarzello Barbera d'Alba This is not the typical, thin, overly acidic, obviously overcropped Barbera that the market is fraught with. The color of this wine is almost black and it gives almost Cabernet Sauvignonlike aromas of cassis, black cherries, and deep, earthy licorice tones. On the palate, it is Barbera all the way. It has hightone acidity with notes of dried cherries, dried cranberries, and sweet tannins. It finishes long with a nice rustic and earthy aftertaste. Enjoy over the next 6 years.
